The Chipata Magistrate Court, convicted a 22-year-old Malawian Businessman, Fredrick Misomali Junior for unlawful entry and engaging in business without a permit.
Immigration Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka says that he was apprehended on 3rd May 2024 in the Chipata Motel Area during a routine clean-up operation after he failed to produce documentation legalizing his stay in Zambia.
Nshinka says he was found selling shoes at the time of the operation.
He says investigations later revealed that he was a second offender who entered the country illegally on 2nd May 2024 and conducted business without having an immigration permit.
Nshinka says he was sentenced to four years imprisonment with hard labour without the option of a fine.
