Economist Kelvin Chisanga has warned that businesses may exploit consumers under the guise of fluctuating fuel pump prices, given fuel’s significant role in driving the economy.
He says that the impact of fuel extends across various sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and mining, affecting the overall economic landscape.
Chisanga points out that a hike in fuel prices often leads to increased costs in essential goods and business production, ultimately impacting consumers.
He has also cited ineffective government monitoring and evaluation measures to address pricing dynamics in businesses.
Chisanga has since urged consumers to collaborate with businesses amidst the country’s escalating fuel prices.
