Lusaka Lights Up: 28 Solar Streetlights Installed in Libala Ward

In a boost to community safety and economic development, the Lusaka City Council (LCC) has successfully completed the installation of 28 solar-powered streetlights along 20th Street in Libala Ward, Kabwata Constituency.

The project was executed at a cost of over one point one million kwacha (K1,151,700) using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager Nyambe Bulumba says the installation, which commenced in February 2024, was undertaken to enhance security and safety for pedestrians and motorists, particularly at night, and to support the growth and development of the area.

Bulumba says the solar-powered option was chosen to reduce reliance on ZESCO connection and minimize electricity costs.

He emphasizes that street lighting is a vital component of community development, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to make Lusaka a safer and more vibrant city for all.

Bulumba has therefore urged the community to join forces in protecting the valuable asset against vandalism.
