The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested and charged Kasemuka Chiteta, a Senior Accountant based at Police Headquarters and a Lusaka based businessman for concealment of possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.
Kasemuka Chiteta, 48, of plot No. 2064 Lilayi in Kafue District, has been charged with one (1) count of Possession of Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime contrary to Section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.
Details of the offence are that on dates between the 7th of April 2023 and 12th of February 2024 in Lusaka district concealed possession of a motor vehicle namely Toyota Land Cruiser BAD4360 registered under the name of Chimuka Chibawe a Lusaka business man, Mr Chimuka has also been charged with one count of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Meanwhile transparency international Zambia has commended the arrest stating that it is a clear indication that government does not condone corruption and no one is the above the law.
TIZ has asked government to ensure that matters of this nature have a smooth and quick trial in the courts of law.
